Islamic Information Services (IIS) was created in 1985 to serve
Islam and Muslims in the United States and abroad. Television program, "Islam" was
launched in the same year in Los Angeles. IIS celebrated the new millennium by launching,
"American Muslim Hour."
IIS is a not-for-profit organization that is not supported by any government
or agency. The supporters of IIS are supporters of Islam - people who would like to see Islam
grow and provide guidance, support and solutions to all peoples of the world.
As the Muslim population grows in the United States, the umbrella of Islamic
organizations also grows. The Islamic Information Service cooperates and works in close proximity
with some of the oldest and recognized, as well as new Islamic centers and organizations in North America.
IIS is the only independent platform used by Muslim organizations to reach over 2.5 million viewers
in over 200 US cities and also abroad.
The mission of IIS is to facilitate the understanding of Islam among Muslims and non-Muslims.
We will accomplish our mission by using media technology for the following:
- Informing viewers about Islam and Muslims, through presentation of relevant information.
- Highlighting past and present contributions made by Islam and Muslims.
- Presenting facts to replace the false, negative image of Muslims and Islam in the media.
- Producing an interesting, informative and intellectually stimulating program that appeals to viewers of all denominations and ages.
